Is it ethical to create extra characters just so they can join the clan and boost membership?
Is there any disadvantage to me if I do it? I don't want to play five characters right now, but I will want to do so later, when I know a lot more about the game. Can the four little dudes just sit there at level one until I'm ready for them?

A lot of folks already have alts in the same clan. I have 5.
nerb..lvl 35 arena fighter and clan "executioner" funnyman...lvl 48 warrior thelma...lvl 50 sorceress CoZ ASSASSIN..lvl 16..nerb's pupil scrapping it out daily in the arena and Scheherazade...lvl15, she did the rounds as a spy in other clans but has now come home to roost ;-)
More the merrier. Having alts is also a great way to try out different skills and stances and it adds a bit of variety when adventuring (or fighting).
DiiDii, have you considered having 4 alts and sending them on adventures that at least use the daily AP and gain them a little booty & experience in the process. All you'd have to do is allocate their skill points as they level up. Could be possible, not sure, ask around eh.
Cheers, nerb

Alts are welcome, and they can start requesting and selling items to build up their ZMs if you want too.

I haven't really read over the T&C (unlike some other person who's name I will not mention just for Timer Rabbit's sake ). Is there a limit as to how many accounts one person can own? You know, start up another 5 characters under a different email and such.

I don't think there is any limit, it's not like your scamming Jolt out of anything by having more than one account. I only have one account with 5 alts. 3 are from day one, Kong is my new arena BGL basher, and the other is a spy in the BGL clan so I can catch them when they do something stupid and point out their lies. Marley and Iggy were deleted to create these new alts.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. I created two new characters, one to fight low-level players in the BGL and one to simply join another clan keep an eye on it. I've unintentionally gotten both up to level 7, so I may start then over with the new knowledge I've gotten from you all. If / when the war ends, I will set them up with group adventures and let them just do that until I have more time to utilize them.

I have a few alts level 10-11 sitting around in their own clan that I use largely just for adventuring, if anyone wants an adventure partner in that range let me know. These are my tertiary characters, just biding my time Fanucci farming and waiting for the level 10 quest reward to be fixed. My secondary character recently graduated up from The BGL to The Old Guard. (he was not there as a spy, I got in just before the war and other BS started, and basically was to test out clan join requests because I was having trouble getting mine in for Clan of Zork - turns out I was just being overly wordy).

***TO ALL: Anyone wishing to have an alt character join you/us in Clan of Zork, please tell us who your main CoZ character is when you write your invite request so we can check your profile first and not deny you unknowingly. We are screening invites carefully to keep out the unwanted infiltrators but would love to welcome existing members alts.***
Cheers, nerb

Curious. I submitted an alt request for my second character, just a few days ago. As I saw no easily discernible method of gifting items between characters (Caliel, my main, is now sitting merrily at Level 20), I merely requested a weapon from our Armory (seeing as I currently had none) for her. Next thing I know, she'd been expelled from the CoZ. Was there a reason for this, or was my alt unintentionally purged?
Not like it matters. I got lucky and she was accepted into The Old Guard. <.< Nothing personal, of course.

Did you mention your alt's name in the invite request? It's very possible it was an error, we've been purging many new members who slip in with old invites and with more than one person doing the task there is bound to be some errors made and I'm sure some legitimate members are getting the axe. Let us know the alts name and we'll readmit them to the clan. Sorry about that, eb

Well, I did. In my invite request message, I mentioned that the character was my alternate for Caliel.
But its okay, really. No harm done, I'm sure it was just an accident.
I'll be re-sending my invite request momentarily.
Oh. That reminds me. I requested a Flatheadian Boxing Rulebook from The Old Guard, and got it. I suppose good manners would dictate I return it to them before I leave and rejoin CoZ, ja?

With The Old Guard, I don't think it will matter if you return it or not, as money is no object to them. Ember (clan leader of The Old Guard) has access to a high level character with over a trillion zorkmids banked, and an accountant. The interest alone with that character covers the cost of the armory. If you want to be polite you can always ask them, either on the in-game clan page or better yet through their contact form (they respond pretty quickly in my experience).

If you do return it there will still be the 7 day wait before you can request something else, so if you already sold what it replaced you might find yourself under armed til you can get a new item. I honestly don't think they will miss one item that much. eb

Caliel, can you confirm your alt's name for us so this doesn't happen again. Sorry if it was me, I don't remember.

Okay guys. To be honest, she didn't have any weapons to begin with (I decided on building her as a lootmule instead of a Arena fighter), so...I'll just hang on to it. After all, they won't need it. >.>
And my alt's name is Sula.
