I'm pasting some of the forum threads that relate to the history of our clan, and to give newcomers a look at our history.

Stagnant Clans
Not sure where this would go forumwise, but since there's clan talk here... I figured this would be a start.
One of my characters is involved in a clan where the leader of it is dealing with RL issues out of game and hasn't been heard from. The two officers this clan has have been non-existent and I fear they've quit playing. Clan members have been requesting items and I'm sure there are some clan requests too... but with no leadership, the clan's fallen stagnant and people are jumping ship because of it.
I know the logical thing to do is bail, but there's still a few people who want this clan to survive. Does anyone know who I can contact about this?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

As a member of the stagnant clan of which he speaks, I would hate to see the clan just die because we can't find out leaders. There are lots of items in our armory and we're sitting on a few hundred donated coconuts that are currently inaccessible.
Hopefully there is a method to promote new leaders within the clan so we can get to our stuff again.

I did that yesterday. Here's the first response I got from Patience:
Hi there,
Unfortunately I don't have the authority to make the call on this, so I'll have
to pass you along to a Community Manager. I do have the ability to go in and
approve gift requests for you, so if all else fails I might be able to help
with some of that - but I'm not sure what the policy is on leadership changes.
Someone should have an answer for you shortly... bear with us!
That gave me a bit of hope. Then I got the first response from the Community Manager:
Hi there,
Would it be possible for you to mail your clan leader and request that they
changed the leadership please?

I told him/her that it could be difficult considering he's been gone from the game for about 2 months. I also explained that the only e-mail I could find for him is his clan website account which I feared he didn't look at anymore. After saying I'd give it a shot, here's the reply I got this morning:
Thank you as we do not have the tools necessary to do this, we have requested
them however.

So far, still nothing from the clan leader (no surprise) and judging from the response I got from Support... looks like it'll be a while before this gets resolved, if ever. I may have to take Patience up on the offer to help with item requests.

ugh that sucks, sorry to hear that!
I could see patience helping out from time to time but the armoury is a lot of work to undertake and needs daily maintenance really.
Can a clan leader promote someone to leader? And if so can someone at Jolt not just log in as your clan leader and promote somebody? Surely they've at least got the tools necessary to deal with a lost password which is all that would really take isn't it?

As one who has an alt that monitiors a clan armory, I know exactly what you mean about maintenance. I think the main challenge early with our armory will be clearing out the requests by people who flew the coop. Once that's done, the rest should be manageable. The good part about this is we won't have to worry about a wait timer issue, so gifting the items we have should be easy.
As far what you proposed, Remma, I'm thinking Jolt's trying to get his contact info he used when he registered to contact him first before resorting to other action. That's the only thing I can decipher from "not having the tools needed, but requesting them." Once they have the info and made the attempt at diplomacy, then I think they may try your approach.

I think I know about which clan you are talking. It's sad that "he" vanished but I can understand that real life goes first. Just a pity that the clan was left alone in such a way. He could have promoted someone else to "Leader" before he left.
I hope there will be a solution soon. It makes me sad to get invite requests from members of this clan asking us to join because their leader is out of reach. I can understand them so I accept the request but this great clan gets more and more down.

Frito never intended to leave forever, his father passed away and we all know how rough losing a parent can be.
The bad part is I remember posting that the clans needed to have a way to reclaim leadership from inactive leaders back when we were testing them. I guess that fell on deaf ears.
As much as it sucks, I would suggest moving clans.

Alrighty. As of 9-9-09, the situation has been taken care of. With the help of fellow clanmate Razmear (Gomer Sling) as well as the Jolt team... Clan of Zork has a new leader: Gir McIrken.
Now that things have been resolved, here's what happened initially.
Back around late June, Raydroid (the clan's creator and original leader) messaged the clan saying he was dealing with real-life concerns and was going to leave the game, possibly for good. After mailing him my condolences and well-wishes, he mailed me back saying that he had someone in mind to run things while he was gone, but never mentioned who it was. For about a week and a half, things ran pretty smoothly and I thought he gave control to one of his other officers, Cencil or Ira. Unfortunately, around mid-July, things started to back up and members were wondering what was going on with the armory requests. All mails and attempts at contacting the other officers of the clan went unanswered and failed. Things pretty much remained that way until now.
Thanks for all your help and advice. Now I'll probably need your advice on how to run a clan as a full-fledged leader now. )

All item and invite requests have been purged from the Clan of Zork so we can have a fresh start, and we are now back in business again under new management!!!
WoooHoooo! And a big thanks to Craig on the Jolt team for getting things fixed up for us!
