Okay so I accumulated just over 3k in fame doing Battles.... I have someone attack while I'm gone and defeat me in battle and I lose ALL of it? What kind of mess is that? When I win in battle I get like a couple points of fame... why would I lose ALL of it in ONE battle?

Buy yourself a 'St. Quakko's Protection' charm, you won't lose any fame if attacked and defeated. It will reset fame when purchased, but it sounds like you just got cleaned out anyway.

Yeah I planned on getting that charm. But what I'm asking is why would losing ONE battle take ALL your points when you only gain a few points for winning one? Oh and it was some lvl 19 with TWO fiery fists, Premium Plate armor, etc. lol

If a low-level character defeats a high-level character in the arena, they win lots of fame.
Agreed, you should buy the charm. Buy it using zorkmids, not coconuts. There's no sense spending valuable coconuts when you can use zorkmids instead.
BTW, no. The Fists of Fire is a two-handed weapon. It occupies both the primary and secondary attack slots even though it's only one weapon.

G-Rock, your experience and Olivia Rae's advice inspried me. I thought I was a big whoop with a few hundred fame (but no St. Quakko's). So I bit the bullet and got the Quakko's, resetting my fame back to zero. Then I went to the arena and experimented. I fought people with no fame, people with 1,000,000+ fame, and just noted what happened. It was a good learning experience and lots of fun. Now I'm up to 2K fame. Top of the world.
However, G-Rock, I still think your experience is odd--the numbers do seem way out of proportion. One of the mysteries of Zork, I guess. But I can't advise because almost everyone I attacked tonight didn't lose points--they all must've had St. Quakko's, too.

Roger that. Thank you for the input. However much loss of fame at least it doesn't steal your zorkmids. I was able to pick and choose my battles and win 2300 zorkmids every battle. That adds up after a while. : D Easter weapons here I come.... Oh and you're right Olivia, it screws me up when I see the item in both slots. My bad.

A week or so ago I finally broke down and bought myself a St. Quakko's Protection after losing 30,000 fame in one battle. I didn't mind so much as I had accomplished my goal of the 100k fame Trophy, but I felt I didn't need to make myself a sitting duck for people hunting fame cows. I'm back up to 1500 Fame now and better equipped since I joined the Clan of Zork, but Battle hasn't been as much of a focus of mine in recent days (there's only about 6 people in The BGL that are in the range of 23-27). I have noticed that you get 1 Fame for every HP your opponent has, and about 1% or so of their Fame total (ie: an opponent with 14000 Fame will net me about 140-150 fame).

I have looked, and searched, and hoped and even prayed a little... But nowhere have I seen this charm for sale using ZMs instead of coconuts. Is this something they changed?

Actually it looks like Inventory -> Go To Armory -> Special is another path to St Quakos for ZM. Thats the route I take anyways eb

My level 31 just got cleaned out by a level 27! I lost 1200 fame points in one battle!
Seems Ed the Clever, from the Posse, has a AR 716 but a whopping DR 1324!!! 600,000+ XP and 3 million in fame! I guess this is an alt created just to wipe out everyone else's fame. Hey - if one of you old timers are bored...can you create an alt and go get him for me? lol
oh well, I knew it would happen someday. Now that it has, I've bought the charm and I'm off and running again.
